TV Shows of Yore

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the difference between Kids TV shows of today and the shows I grew up on in the Seventies and the Eighties. I see the shows my Nieces and Nephews are watching, like Icarly and Drake and Josh and I long for the Girls of Eastland. The Parents on today's batch of Kids shows seem mindless and ridiculous. It's really hard to find one good parent roll model on these shows. There seems to be no lesson learned, except how to outwit the adults. I introduced my 12 year old Niece to the old TV show the "Facts of Life" (through on demand cable) and she has watched every episode to date. She really liked the show and saw the difference for herself. I'm not saying shows like "Facts of Life", and "One Day at a Time" were jam packed with knowledge, but they were fun, respectful and a lot warmer than the kid shows of today. You would never think that Mrs Garrett or Ann Romano for that matter would ever be outsmarted by the Children they were in care of. In the end the Parents were there whether they could fix the problem or not and the Kids were glad to have them. I say these shows need some Ann Romano to keep them in line. What do you think?
